WOODWARD, Iowa - Tornadoes swept across central Iowa on Saturday, ripping up farms, destroying homes in
several towns and sending college football fans running from a stadium. Tornadoes are rare this late in the year.
There have been only 23 November tornadoes in Iowa since 1950, all but six of them recorded in the years 1975
and 1988, according to Weather Service records.

At least one person was killed in the storm, two others were hospitalized, and a gas leak forced authorities to
evacuate part of Stratford, a town of about 746 residents 50 miles northwest of Des Moines. "Half the town's gone,"
said Bob Smith, who has lived in Stratford for 12 years. In Woodward, 30 miles to the south, 20 to 40 homes were
severely damaged. National Weather Service meteorologist Craig Cogil said it appeared that "at least" three
tornadoes touched down Saturday afternoon. "There were sheep everywhere." Like the movie Twister - "we got

Nov. 11, 2005 - Friday. BEIJING, CHINA. The Health Ministry yesterday confirmed bird flu outbreaks in another 4
townships in Liaoning Province. In Liaoning chickens have died in 4 townships of Beining city. At least 1,100
chickens had died at the two farms, and authorities slaughtered half a million birds in the areas. World Health
Organization experts will join Chinese scientists to probe three possible human cases of bird flu in central China,
Xinhua news agency reported.

Nov. 10, 2005 - LOS ANGELES - A federal grand jury indicted two men Wednesday for allegedly conspiring to
smuggle three surface-to-air missiles into the United States. Such missiles are designed to bring down aircraft.
The two men, Yi Qing Chen 41 and Chao Tung Wu 51 are naturalized U.S. citizens born in China. They have also
been charged with conspiring to distribute Methamphetamine and Ecstasy and importing millions of counterfeit
cigarettes. The men were ordered held without bond. "Today's indictment shows a willingness of the smugglers to
acquire practically anything for importation, no matter how dangerous or destructive," U.S. Attorney Debra Wong Yang
said.

Bird Flu Triggers Immune System 'Storm.' Concern mounts over the potential spread to humans. 125 cases of
human H5N1 infection have been reported worldwide, including 64 deaths. All of these cases have occurred in Asia
and involved bird to human transmission. "The problem is that sometimes the inflammation can be so bad there's
collateral damage. That collateral damage can cause inflammation and damage to your lungs enough so that you
are unable to breathe, and you get acute respiratory distress." Michael T. Osterholm, director of the Center for

determine whether the virus caused the death of a 12-year-old girl and infected her 9-year-old brother and a 36-

If anything can happen in America, then make it the way you want it -- this as an anything that can

This is not about what you believe or

last people associated with anything of

Paris, Tennessee - Severe thunderstorms rolled across America's midsection late Tuesday, producing funnel clouds
that tore off roofs and destroyed buildings in 4 states. Although, Tornado season officially ended in August - tornado
touchdowns were spotted in 12 counties in Tennessee. Henry County Sheriff's Department Faye Scott said, "It's
major destruction." Funnel clouds were also sighted in Indiana, Illinois and Kentucky. A tornado made a direct hit
on Henry County's emergency management center, forcing authorities to relocate to another building to handle the
disaster, County Mayor Brent Greer said. The storm also ripped the roof off the main shop at the county highway
department. Most of the highway department staffers were able to take cover in the basement. "We're very fortunate,"
Greer said. "10 minutes under tables, dust and everything swirling around," Brenda Magee said. "It was a big roar.
We heard it hit." "The wind was just really, really ferocious," said Julie Wilz. In western Kentucky, storms leveled
homes and toppled power lines. At least 22 people were treated for injuries. In southern Illinois, high winds peeled
the roofs off a church and several barns. Dan Spaeth, a weather service forecaster, said Tuesday's conditions were
similar to those that produced the tornado on Nov. 6 that caused 41 miles of damage from Kentucky into Indiana.

"It looks like a war zone," said Ted Denny, spokesman for the Sheriff's Department.

November 18, 2005 - Friday - 10:59 PM (EST). California Wildfire Spreads From 2000 to 4,000 Acres.

A wall of flames as high as 30 feet snaked along hillsides in the morning and by the afternoon a huge plume of
whiskey-brown smoke carried ash to the nearby Pacific Ocean. The fire's estimated size doubled late Friday. The
late-season blaze was first reported around 3:30 a.m. in School Canyon. Wind gusts helped the fire more than
triple in size in just a few hours.

Nov. 19, 2005 - Saturday. Tropical Storm Gamma Kills in Central America.

Gamma, the 24th named storm of an already record-breaking. Gamma extended the Atlantic's record-
breaking storm season. The previous record of 21 named storms had stood since 1933. Forecasrers
said the Storm was likely to speed up and turn northeast. On that path Gamma would cross Cuba but skirt
the Florida Keys and the Florida mainland on Monday. Gamma brought torrential rains to much of Central
America. Five major rivers overflowed their banks, washing out bridges and highways. Hugo Arevalo,
coordinator of a national disaster response committee said. "The damage is terrible along all the
northern coast of the country. Many of our countrymen are suffering."

Nov. 23, 2005 - Rare Volcanic Eruption Causes Rapid Growth of Island.

A rare volcanic eruption is rapidly expanding the size of an island in the
South Atlantic, scientists announced today. New satellite images show
that Montagu Island, has grown by 50 acres as lava pours into the sea.
"Red hot lava has formed a molten river 90 meters wide [99 yards] that is
moving fast, up to several meters per second."

Nov. 22, 2005 - Washington - Mount St. Helens kicks up a plume as Thanksgiving nears.

Rockfalls causing white plumes that rose above the rim of the volcano's crater were raising concerns for residents.
Mount St. Helens rumbled back to life in September 2004 after years of quiet. In October 2005 a flow of molten rock
reached the surface, marking a renewal of domebuilding activity that had stoppped in 1986. Scientists say a more
explosive eruption is possible at any time.

The farm is operated by the owner of the farm where avian flu was found in a

duck last week. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has quarantined

another 4 operations.

BEIJING - CHINA City Residents Flee As Water Is Turned Of.

Residents of one of China's biggest cities have had their water shut off and

are streaming to the airport and railway stations to get out. The water supply

was shut down after a blast at a chemical plant near the Songhua River,

which supplies water to 9 million people and runs into Russia several

hundred kilometres away. The chemicals in the river include benzene. A

British teacher said he had been told by a school official that people may

have died from drinking the contaminated water.

Nov. 24, 2005 - Balloon Injures Two At Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade
and People Around The World SEE THE LIGHT -- get the message.

NEW YORK - The best planning went into the parade event. Yet, with all
things considered, at the Cross road in the City of The World -- where X
marks the spot -- an M & M balloon in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade
grabbed a light on Broadway and caused it to crash to the ground, injuring
too. A 26 year old female and her 12 year old sister had the light come
down on them. Injuries required them to be taken to the hospital. They had
traveled hundreds of miles from the New York State capital of Albany -- to
see this City event. Strange enough, because of another incident in 1997,
this very light had been prepared to avoid anything like this from happening.
The light crashing down on people made others wonder. Some saw it as a
message. With so many unusual things that have happened over the past
few months New Yorkers were heard saying, "If they don't fix what is the
bigger problem, people are going to get hurt." More Coincidences ? Can
not avoid what a person thinks. Can not avoid what you see. Especially
when the light is in front of you. Even though millions

of parade goers were not aware someone was injured

evacuated. Ash blanketed the Comoros capital Friday
after Mount Karthala erupted, spewing smoke and
cinders over the nation's main island of Grand Comore.
The 14,110-foot Galeras volcano caused poor visibility
forcing motorists in and around the capital to use their
headlights during what are normally daylight hours.

collapsed when the quake hit around 8:44 Saturday
morning. Several aftershocks had also hit by early

than 130,000 homes were damaged. (China -AEST- is
12 hours ahead of New York Eastern Standard Time.)
The magnitude 5.7 earthquake struck near a popular
tourist destination in east China officials said. The
quake, the biggest in the region in half a century, could
be felt in cities hundreds of kilometres away. "We'd just
finished our breakfast, when we heard a huge roar,

province in the city of Ruichang said. The epicentre was near the city of Jiujiang, home to half a million people and a

city, a total of 420,000 people had left their homes, fearing the morning's earthquake might not be the last, according
to the website of state news agency Xinhua. A relatively powerful aftershock was felt at about 12.55pm, the sina.com
